Jacob McClain returned to Kentucky shortly after his first wife died in Indiana.  There, in 1837, he married Susannah Woods.  He remained in Kentucky for about five years, with Susannah's three children from her previous marriage and they had three sons of their own.  The entire family then relocated to Johnson County, Indiana where Jacob lived out the rest of his life.  The family appears together in the 1850 census living in Clark Township.  Jacob McClain died on August 20, 1857 and was buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery in Marion County, Indiana. [1]
 
Susannah (Unknown) Woods - 2nd wife of of Jacob McClain
Susannah (Unknown) Woods was born in around 1797.  She was married and had a daughter, Ann, and two sons, Benjamin and William.  Susannah later married Jacob McClain in Kentucky and they had three sons.  Susannah filed an appeal to Jacob's denied military pension in 1869.  No other information has been located regarding Susannah McClain. Samuel McClain was born to Jacob and Susannah McClain in Kentucky in 1838.  He appears in the 1850 census with his family in Clark Township, Johnson County, Indiana.  He married Nancy Miller in Indiana.  They appear in Johnson County in the 1870 census but later appear to have moved to Missouri.  Samuel later married Sophia Baier.  Samuel McClain died on March 25, 1925 and was buried with his first wife, Nancy, in Rehoboth Cemetery in Slater, Missouri. Nancy Miller - wife of of Samuel McClain
Nancy Miller was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Miller in Indiana on May 17, 1842.  She married Samuel McClain.  Nancy died in Saline County, Missouri on June 10, 1912.  She was buried in Rehoboth Cemetery. [4]
 
Sophia (Unknown) Baier - 2nd wife of of Samuel McClain
Sophia (Unknown) Baier was born in Europe on June 27, 1847.  She married Joseph Baier and lived in Missouri in 1900.  She later married Samuel McClain.  Sophia died from influenza on March 21, 1920 and was buried in the New Frankfort Cemetery, New Frankfort, Missouri. [5]

Edward C. McClain was born to Jacob and Susannah McClain in Kentucky in 1841.  He appears in the 1850 census with his family in Clark Township, Johnson County, Indiana.  He later moved to Missouri.  No other confirmed information concerning Edward C. McClain has been located at this time. [6]
 
Margaret Miller - wife of of Samuel McClain
Margaret Miller was born to Mr. and Mrs. John Miller in Indiana around 1840.  She married Edward C. McClain.  Margaret lived in Saline County, Missouri but no death or burial information has been located at this time. [7]
