1 Gottlieb Schadler (Generation 1)
After the death of his first wife, Gottlieb Samuel Schaedler married Wilhelmina Gersonde.  The Schaedler family left Bremen on July 13, 1893 aboard the S.S. Stuttgart.  Their itinerary took them to the United States via the Port of Baltimore, where they landed on July 28, 1893.  The Stuttgart's passenger list indicates that Gottlieb's destination was his brother-in-law's residence in Saint Joseph, Michigan.  Gottlieb lived the rest of his life in St. Joseph.  In 1911, Gottlieb and Minnie divorced.  After a two-week illness he died on Saturday, May 7, 1937 in St. Joseph.  Funeral services were conducted on the following Monday at 2:00 in the Dormer & Kerlikowske chapel with the Rev. E. A. Kuhn, pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical Church officiating.  Burial was in the Lakeview (City) Cemetery with sons Emil, Otto, Bernard, and William Schadler, and grandsons Albert Hildebrandt and Richard Riemer (Reamer) acting as casket bearers. [1]

Wilhelmina Gersonde – second wife of Gottlieb Schadler
Wilhelmina Gersonde was born to Carl August and Johanna (Bagatzki) Gersonde on August 3, 1863 in Stolp, Germany.  After the 1863 rebellion in Poland, the family moved to Volhynia, which is now part of the Ukraine.  Wilhelmine's mother died in Alexandrowka, Volhynia in 1872.  On January 20, 1881 Wilhelmine married (Gottlieb) Samuel Schiedler (Schaedler - patriarch of the Schadler family) in Rozyszcze, Volhynia.  She was the second wife of Gottlieb Schaedler, as well as the mother of Maria, Adolph/Arthur, Bertha, Albert, Olga, William, Bernard, and Richard Schadler.  Gottlieb and Wilhelmina moved the family to St. Joseph Michigan in 1893.  Wilhelmine's father, step-mother, and several brothers and sisters made the voyage on the same ship.  They also settled in the St. Joseph area.  In St. Joseph, Wilhelmine was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Church.  She and Gottlieb divorced in 1911.  In the 1930 census, Wilhelmine can be found living in St. Joseph with her daughter and son-in-law, Olga and Ed Reamer, along with several other family members including Gottlieb.  In 1940, she is listed as the head of the household with several of her adult children living with her.  Wilhelmina Gersonde Schadler died at her home in St. Joseph, Michigan on Wednesday, August 13, 1941.  Funeral services were held at the church on the following Saturday, with the Rev. E. A. Kuhn officiating.  Burial was in Riverview Cemetery. [2]

H. A. Decker, Minister of the Gospel.  Apparently her relationship with her parents was strained as she listed her father as "Joseph" and left her mother's name blank on her marriage license.  Witnesses to the marriage did not include any of her family members.  Maria and Clyde appear in the 1920 census living in Chicago with their three children.  In September of 1925, while living in Benton Harbor, Maria filed a bill for divorce in the Berrien County Circuit Court.  She charged Clyde with cruelty, desertion, and non-support.  Public announcements in the local newspaper indicate that as of November 21, 1925, Clyde had failed to appear to answer the charges.

On February 13, 1926, Mary Timmons (Schadler) married Charles J. Sallant, a carpenter from Chicago, Illinois.  The ceremony was performed by G. G. Bratzey, Pastor, in St. Joseph.  This marriage was witnessed by her sister, Olga, and brother-in-law, Edward Reamer.  Mary (Schadler) Sallant died on July 10, 1947 in Blue Island, Illinois at age 65.  She was buried in Fairmount Cemetery in Willow Springs, Illinois. S. Census living in Chicago, Illinois.  Clyde's mother, Frances, is also listed as living with the family at this time.  Within the next few years Maria moved back to Michigan with the children and in 1925 filed for a divorce from Clyde.  When his mother passed away in June of 1927, Clyde was listed in her obituary as one of three surviving children and as still living in Chicago.  No other information on Clyde Timmons has been located at this time. [4]

Charles Johann Sallant was born in Rasheschtshi, Poland on April 27, 1884 to Mr. and Mrs. John Sallant.  Charles was forty-one and working as a carpenter when he married Mary (Schadler) Timmons on February 13, 1926.  They appear together in the 1930 and 1940 census records, living in Chicago.  On January 19, 1942 Charles Johann Sallant was naturalized and officially became an American citizen in U. S. District Court in Chicago, Illinois.  Anton Schlemier and George Jufeiry were witnesses to the proceeding.  His draft registration card lists Mary and himself as living in Chicago with Charles employed at the Milk Bottle Crate Company.  Charles died on May 30, 1944 in Chicago.  He was buried in Willow Springs, Illinois.
