Adeline Baker DePeel was born on March 18, 1858 in St Catherine, Ontario.  She married Harvey J. Moist on October 26, 1879 in Springport, Jackson County, Michigan.   Harvey and Adeline had a farm in Calhoun County near her youngest sister, Hattie.  Both families appear on the same page of the 1900 U. S. Census.  Adeline died from heart failure on March 24, 1919 and was buried in North Clarence Cemetery, Clarence Center, Michigan. [1]
 
Harvey J. Moist - husband of Adeline Baker DePeel
Harvey J. Moist was born to Moses and Sarah (Grubb) Moist in Stark County, Ohio on March 23, 1852.  He was the husband of Adeline Baker DePeel, as well as the father of Edna, Ida, Nina, and Edward Harvey Moist.  Harvey was a farmer.  He died on December 9, 1919 from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was buried next to Adeline in North Clarence Cemetery. Edna G. Moist was born in Springport, Michigan on January 26, 1881.  She married Floyd Cortez Raymond on March 20, 1902 in Clarence, Michigan and they had a daughter and a son.  After Floyd's death, Edna continued living in Charlotte.  She worked as an operator in a beauty shop.  Edna died on Friday, November 14, 1947 in a Lansing, Michigan hospital after a brief illness.  Services were held on Monday at the Cheney Funeral Home in Charlotte.  The Rev. Russell McConnell officiated.  Serving as pall bearers were Wendell Anderson, Harley Caulin, Donald Cross, Bernard Briggs, Samuel Briggs and Herbert Kemerling.  Edna was buried next to Floyd in Maple Hill Cemetery. Floyd Cortez Raymond - husband of Edna G. Moist
Floyd Cortez Raymond was born on October 30, 1877 in Michigan.  He was the father of Aleta and Lionel Raymond.  According to the 1920 census Floyd was a laborer at a retail grocer while living in Charlotte, Michigan.  He also worked as a traveling salesman for the Beach Manufacturing Company of Charlotte.  He died on Tuesday, September 25, 1928 in a Battle Creek, Michigan hospital.  The Charlotte Lodge F. & A. M. was in charge of services that were held at his home.  Floyd was buried in Maple Hill Cemetery, in Charlotte, Michigan. [4]

Aleta Irene Raymond was born on May 17, 1903.  She married Kenneth A. Kitchen on February 12, 1927 in Detroit and they had a daughter.  Aleta later worked for Telegraph Savings and Loans in Chicago where she rose to the position of vice-president.  After retirement she and Kenneth moved to Florida.  There, she was a member of St. Mary the Virgin American Episcopal Church in Delray Beach.  Aleta was also a member of the Jonathan Dickinson Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and the Daughters of 1812.  Aleta R. Kitchen died on Saturday, April 21, 1990.  Memorial services were held the following Thursday at he church with the Rev. Richard B. Bass officiating.  The Scobee-Combs Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. [5]
 
Kenneth A. Kitchen - husband of Aleta Irene Raymond
Kenneth A. Kitchen was born on May 17, 1906.  He married Aleta Raymond in 1927.  The 1930 census shows Kenneth and family living in Detroit with his occupation as a jewelry salesman.  The 1940 census has the family in Novi Township, a Detroit suburban area, with Kenneth working as a credit manager at a financial corporation.  Kenneth died in Florida on July 28, 1977.  The Scobee-IrelandPotter Funeral Home in Delray Beach was in charge of arrangements. Lionel Raymond was born to Floyd and Edna Raymond on August 18, 1908 in Lee, Calhoun County, Michigan.  He died on September 5, 1908 and was buried in the North Clarence Cemetery in Clarence Center, Michigan. [5]

Ida Dell Moist was born in Springport, Michigan in 1882.  Ida died on May 19, 1960 and was buried with Bernello in Hunt Cemetery, Clarence Township, Calhoun County, Michigan. [8]
 
Bernello Lake - husband of Ida Dell Moist
Bernello Lake was born October 10, 1874.  He was the father of Loretta, Dewey, and Donald Lake.  Bernello was a farmer and lived his entire life in th Springport area.  He died at his home on July 26, 1953 and was buried in Hunt Cemetery. [9]

Loretta Lillian Lake was born in Olivet, Michigan on April 7, 1901.  She married Kenneth Osborne Everett on March 28, 1925 in Albion, Michigan. [10]

Dewey Romondo Lake was born on November 19, 1903.  He died on March 17, 1974 in Avon Park, Highlands, Florida. [12]

Virginia V. Humphry was born on May 22, 1910.  She married Dewey R. Lake and they had a son.  Virginia died on December 6, 1991. [13]

Frances B. Sechler was born on May 17, 1906.  She married Donald B. Lake and they had a son.  Frances died on November 29, 1998. [15]

Nina May Moist was born in Springport, Michigan on August 13, 1886.  She married Hilson Alonzo Taylor on January 14, 1903 and they had a son, Lawrence.  Nina appears in the 1930 census as a widow with her daughter-in-law, Hildred, living with her.  She married Samuel Stanaway in the early 1930's.  Nina May (Moist) Taylor Stanaway died in Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo on December 7, 1975.  She was buried with her first husband in Oakwood Cemetery, Eaton Rapids, Michigan. Hilson Alonzo Taylor - husband of Nina May Moist
Hilson Alonzo Taylor was born in Michigan on July 31, 1880.  He was the father of Lawrence A. Taylor.  Hilson died on June 4, 1925 and was buried in Oakwood Cemetery in Eaton Rapids. [17]
 
Samuel Stanaway - second husband of Nina May Moist
Samuel Stanaway was born in Pennsylvania on October 8, 1889.  He married Nina Taylor in the 1930s.  Samuel died in November of 1977. [18]

Lawrence Allen Taylor was born on November 19, 1903.  He died on March 17, 1971 when he lost control of his car after a tire blew out on the I-75 freeway north of Flint, Michigan. [19]
 
Hildred Lyone Sellers - wife of Lawrence A. Taylor
Hildred Lyone Sellers was born in 1904.  She married Lawrence A. Taylor in Charlotte, Michigan on July 17, 1923 and they had a daughter.  Hildred died in 1956. [20]
 
Ruth Bessie Hogle - second wife of Lawrence A. Taylor
Ruth Bessie Hogle was born on February 18, 1911 in Lansing, Michingan.  She married Martin Bos in Michigan and they had two daughters and two sons.  Martin died in 1954.  Afterwards, Ruth married Lawrence A. Taylor in Lucas, Ohio.  Ruth died in Honor, Benzie, Michigan on May 4, 2004. [20]

Edward Harvey Moist was born in Springport, Michigan on January 16, 1888.  Edward married Ida Bundy in Albion, Michigan on July 25, 1908 but he is listed as divorced in the 1910 census.  Edward married Wave Belle Starks on October 26, 1912 in Battle Creek.  After she died in 1922, Edward married Blanche B. Hooper Eyre.  Edward died in Bradenton, Florida on January 26, 1959.  He was buried in the Newton Township Cemetery in Marshall, Michigan. [22]
 
Ida Bundy - wife of Edward Harvey Moist
Ida Bundy was born in 1888.  She married Edward Harvey Moist on July 25, 1908 in Albion, Michigan.  Ida and Edward divorced less than two years later.  No other information concening Ida Bundy Moist has been located at this time. [23]
 
Wave Belle Starks - second wife of Edward Harvey Moist
Wave Belle Starks was born in 1888.  She married Edward Harvey Moist on October 26, 1912 in Battle Creek, Michigan.  Wave was the mother of Maxine and Norma Moist.  She died on Friday, May 5, 1922.  Funeral services were held the following Sunday afternoon and Wave was buried in North Clarence Cemetery in Clarence Center, Calhoun County. Blanche B. Hooper Eyre - third wife of Edward Harvey Moist
Blanche B. Hooper Eyre was born in 1887 in Albion, Michigan.  She married Edward Harvey Moist on November 5, 1928 in Steuben County, Indiana.  Blanche worked in the packaging-processing department of Post Division, General Foods Corp., retiring in 1941.  She was a member of the First Congregational Church and the Post 25-Year Club.  Blanche died on Wednesday, December 20, 1972 in the Marshall Manor where she had been a patient for about one year.  Services were held the following Friday at the Farley Funeral Home and she was buried next to Edward in Newton Township Cemetery. Maxine L. Moist was born to Edward Harvey and Wave Bell (Starks) Moist in Clarence Township, Calhoun Cunty, Michigan around 1916.  She married Donald G. Cross on October 27, 1933 in Angola, Indiana.  They had a daughter and a son.  Maxine worked for many years as a secretary at the Defense Logistics Service Center before retiring due to ill health.  She was a member of the First Congregational Church in Battle Creek.  Maxine died on Monday, July 3, 1972 at Leila Hospital in Battle Creek after an eleven-month illness.  Services were held on Wednesday at the Farley Funeral Home. [19]
 
Donald Gaylord Cross - husband of Maxine L. Moist
Donald Gaylord Cross was born in Mohawk, Michigan on September 27, 1911.  He moved to Battle Creek in 1918 from White Pine (upper peninsula).  Donald graduated from Battle Creek High School in 1931 and married Maxine L. Moist in 1933.  He worked for nearly thirty years at the Post Division of the General Foods Corporation.  For four years, during World War II, he worked for the Eaton Manufacturing Company.  Donald was an avid baseball player and bowler.  He bowled in the Elks and Franklin Iron & Metal leagues.  He was a life member of the Battle Creek Elks Lodge 13, and the Post 25 Year Club.  Donald was also a member of the First Congregational Church.  Donald G. Cross died on Thursday, April 4, 1985 in the Arrowood Nursing Center, where he had been a patient for six months.  Services were held on Monday at the Farley-Estes Funeral Home. [20]

Norma N. Moist was born in Charlotte, Michigan to Edward Harvey and Wave Bell (Starks) Moist on November 18, 1918.  She married Hubert C. Kemerling and they had two sons.  She began driving at age 13 and throughout the years orchestrated multiple solo road trips between Florida, Georgia, Michigan and Wisconsin and, in her 80s, a seven-week cross-country road trip with co-pilot and dear friend Virginia (Jinny) Doane.  Norma was competitive.  She was a stellar bridge player, a billiards champ and an avid golfer, twice securing a hole in one.  Norma opened her home to anyone who needed a limited or long-term residence.

Proud of her independence, Norma lived alone well into her 90s.  When it became necessary, she lived in the Aspirus Hospice House in Wausau, Wisconsin.  Norma died on April 18, 2017 in Wausau.  A life celebration and private family burial was held and she was buried with her husband in Mount Ever-Rest Cemetery in Kalamazoo. Hubert Clifford Kemerling - husband of Norma N. Moist
Hubert Clifford Kemerling was born to Frank and Jessie (Hammond) Kemerling on April 5, 1915 in Dowling, Michigan.  A graduate of Battle Creek Central High School, Hubert "Baldy" Kemerling attended Western Michigan University on an athletic scholarship.  He received numerous, city, state, and national awards as an amateur baseball player.  Hubert married Norma N. Moist in 1937.  He was employed in the graphic arts industry, holding osiitons as aprinting ink salesman and manufacturing manager.  He served as president of the Kalamazoo Valley Craftsman Club and was honored, at one point, as the Craftsman of the Year.  He was a member of the Kalamazoo and Gull Lake Country Clubs, the Elks Lodge, the Optimist Club, and the First Congregational Church.  After retiring, Hubert and Norma moved to Florida.  There, he served as president of the Southwest Florida Seniors Golf Association.

Hubert C. "Baldy" Kemerling died on Wednesday, September 18, 1996 in Spring Hill, Florida.  A memorial service was held on September 26 in the mausoleum of Mount Ever-Rest Cemetery.  Burial followed in Section P - Around the Pond. [20]
